Students are introduced to a series of healthcare IT applications. The course explores the general methodology behind applications with emphasis on design, system components, and data structures and data management, network architecture, clinical application of electronic health records, computer-based information system operation and management functions in the context of various professional settings. The impact of information technology on healthcare management are discussed. Attention is given to the importance of structuring and managing data using existing and cutting-edge information technology.
