This course will examine privacy and security issues related to the safeguarding of protected health information against inadvertent disclosures, current and proposed laws and regulations that govern privacy and security, emerging technologies that may affect privacy and security concerns, compliance with federal health information laws (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH), and contemporary cybersecurity threats. In addition, students will assess legal processes impacting health information.
