Department(s)
Description
Fieldwork assignments will offer enrolled students the opportunity to engage in hands-on professional training in the field of Youth Work such as government agencies, youth advocacy, and activism, juvenile justice, education, as well as cultural sites that are paid positions. Students who have taken Fieldwork I and would like to experience a fieldwork placement in a different youth development setting can take a second fieldwork assignment/course. This option consists of a second off-campus fieldwork experience supervised by a faculty member. The venue must be approved by the faculty member and/or the program director and, depending on the nature of the planned fieldwork activity, an on-site supervisor may be required. The internship must be the focus of no less than 150 hours of student work. Weekly discussions of each student’s internship will be conducted online. This course requires students to write a paper based on their fieldwork experience and site.
